My Mighty Mama Story.

Hi! I’m Lynsey, mama-in-chief here at The Mighty Mama Coach. I’ve been a personal trainer and coach in Glasgow for almost 18 years now.

Most of that time has been spent coaching women in fitness, but my own experiences in training when I became pregnant have completely shifted my perspectives on my chosen field. I have a degree in Sports Medicine, so studying the human body and observing reactions to exercise and life events is very familiar to me - however, I was not prepared for the changes that my body and mind were about to go through as I embarked on motherhood.

It was extremely hard to find good information or support on the topic of exercise or wellness throughout the various challenges in my journey towards motherhood. There was a tremendous amount to try and deal with and learn on the fly - from miscarriage, to exercise during pregnancy; exercise after my baby was born, after forceps, to haemorrhaging, to rehab muscle separation. Coping with weak pelvic floor and recovering from a C-section - it was a journey filled with surprises, and new challenges, and I was left feeling adrift. (Happy to report that the above list was borne of multiple pregnancies and not one single, very traumatic, experience!)

I quickly realised that if I was feeling this way, then there must be a lot of women who felt even more lost. After all, I worked in the fitness industry, and had even touched on pregnancy in my Sports Medicine degree (albeit briefly - and post-birth wasn’t even on the radar). I had no idea about the damage I was doing to my body until I started to dive a lot deeper.

Nowadays, there's much more information available about how to exercise during this stage of your life. However, like with everything on the internet, there’s a lot of misinformation, and it’s extremely hard to know what to take seriously and what to discard.

So my mission here is to create a space for women and parents to navigate your journey into parenting armed with all of the best information, and to help you find the exercise that you love (or help you back to the exercise you already loved). I want to make sure that whatever challenges you’re facing, we can meet them head on together - from protecting your pelvic floor, or healing any Diastasis Recti, to generally feeling stronger or having more energy, so you can smash your life as a parent and a person.

I’m an advocate for the anti-diet culture and the weight stigma community. This is an inclusive and welcoming space for all - we’re supporters of racial and gender equality, and you’ll find no diet talk here. My studio (in Bishopbriggs, Glasgow) and my online community are both safe spaces where you can look after your body and your mind without judgement.

Thank you for joining me - I’m really looking forward to making a difference for you!

Lynsey.
